(Frequently Asked Questions)

General

Q: Can I install the software in both my laptop and PC?
A: Absolutely. Our software is licensed per user, not per desk. As you as you are the only user, you can install it onto your laptop and PC.

Q: How can I transfer the data between my laptop and PC?
A: Transfer the data is really simple. There is no need to import or export data as all the data is stored in a single database file just like your MS Excel or MS Word file. There are two methods to transfer the data:
Method 1: Copy the database file (eg. Stock.db for StockMaster, posh.db for POSH) to and from your laptop and PC.
Method 2: Copy the database file to the flash drive and turn on the multi-database option to connect to the database stored in your flash drive. By doing this, you will always have an up to date data in your flash drive and there is no need to copy and paste.

Q: What is the ongoing cost?
A: Nothing if you don't want any upgrade or technical support, or $110 pa (ie. $8.3 + GST / month) if you want to keep your software up-to-date, receive free technical support and discounted data services. In the past, we released the upgrades every two to three months. Please note that for all new users, we offer you six months free maintenance plan.

Q: What is the maintenance plan and how does it work?
A: Software support and upgrades are included as part of a maintenance plan. New registered users will receive 6 months free maintenance plan as part of the purchase. This will ensure all new users run the latest version of our softwares. After six months, we will send you a notice for the renewal of another 12 month. If you renew it, you will continue to receive free upgrades and technical support. If you do not renew it, you can purchase an individual upgrade later (higher price than the maintenance plan) and each support instance will incur $88. However, please note that after two months from the expiry date, you will need to purchase an upgrade prior to re-joining the maintenance plan. Hence, it is recommended to keep your membership plan up to date.

Q: Can I cancel the share price data or maintenance plan?
A: Yes, you can cancel the share price data plan at any time and we will refund the remaining unused months to you, with the $40 cancellation fee. All refund will be processed at the end of each month.

Q: Can I obtain a refund after purchasing the software or data?
A: No. We do not provide refund after the order as this is a software or data and once it is delivered we cannot control you from installing or storing the software or data. However, in certain situation, we can provide an exchange of our other products. Hence, it is important that you evaluate our free full working version before purchase. You can also email us at support@supertech.com.au should you have any question regarding the software or data.

Q: How can I restore the database? A: You can restore the database by copying the stock.db (StockMaster) or posh.db (POSH) from your back up device to the software directory (eg. c:\stockmaster) and replace the existing database file. Q: I have shares 13 years old that have recently sold. The CGT report shows an indexing factor of 1. Why?
A: The reason is that, according to the ATO, the indexation rule can only be used for assets acquired before 21/09/1999. If the shares are sold today, the sell CPI will be freezed in the Sep 1999 quarter (not the current CPI quarter). Hence, in most cases, the discount rule will result in a lesser capital gains tax. StockMaster preformed a check in both cases and if the discount rule is used, the indexation factor will be just 1.

Q: [StockMarket Plus] What is the difference between StockMaster and StockMarket Plus?
A: No difference. StockMaster is the same StockMarket Plus. Both softwares were developed by us in Supertech. In 1998, MAUS Business licensed our technology to market StockMaster under their brand. Hence, StockMaster is marketed directly by us and StockMarket Plus is marketed by MAUS Business.

Q: The default set of councils are loaded when I selected my home state. But I also own properties in other states, how can I reload the councils?
A: You can add your own council by clicking the "…" button next to the council drop down box. The councils loaded are for your own reference only and it is not important. The important field is the state when you can enter NSW, QLD, WA, VIC…etc and the stamp duty is automatically calculated based on this state field.

Q: What are the difference between POSH Standard Edition and POSH Professional Edition?
A: The major difference is that POSH Standard edition allows you to create a maximum of 2 investors (or legal entities) whereas POSH Professional allows you to create unlimited number of investors. For example, if you have three different properties, one owned in your name, the second owned in your partner's name, and the third owned in your superfund name, you will need a Professional edition.

Q: Why did my registration screen keep popping up [Vista]?
A: If you are running Vista and have registered the software but this registration screen appears each time when you run POSH, you will need to run this application as an Administrator. To run POSH as an administrator, right mouse click on the icon or posh.exe and select Run as administrator from the Popup menu.
